Hello Parents. This is Spirit Week. Students may wear pajamas to school tomorrow. On Thursday, students may dress as someone from another country. On Friday, students may wear a crazy hat and dress in spirit wear. For our Advent service project fourth graders are asked to bring in paper products, such as paper towels, kleenex, and toilet paper for Seeds For Hope, a women's shelter. You may send any items you wish to donate to school. We will be focusing on Advent and the Liturgical Calendar in Religion this week. Scholastic Winter Book Fair is taking place this week.

Hi Parents. We are having a canned food drive at school this week. If you have any canned goods you would like to donate, have your child bring them to school tomorrow. We are also collecting box tops again. The contest runs until February 21st. I am trying to get the kids fired up so we can win the awesome grand prize in Room 1. I will not collect Reading calendars until November 30th. Everyone enjoy the Thanksgiving break. We will begin studying about The Beatitudes in Religion, when we return next week

We reached our goal last week of perfect attendance for 5 straight days. I am proud of everyone for "showing up". We celebrated with a popcorn party on Friday afternoon. We will continue studying Chapter 7 in Religion this week. I didn't receive any book orders for Scholastic books, so no orders will be placed for November. Have a great week.

Hello Parents. Our field trip to the James Whitcomb Riley Home was very nice. I think the children enjoyed the visit to Crown Hill as well. We ended the day with our Halloween Party. Thank you to all the moms who came to help! We will be studying Chapter 6 in Religion, Baptism in Christ. The chapter focuses on the experiences of belonging to a group, the significance of the gift of Baptism, and our call to live Christian lives. Scholastic book orders for November are due by next Friday, November 9th. Please make sure your children are spending time on ALEKS at home. They are now being required to complete 5 topics per week. If you do not have access to a computer at home, students may come in the classroom at 7AM to get connected. Thanks and have a great week.

The student that earns the most points each day will wear the badge recognizing him/her for their accomplishments. The classroom that earns the most points for the week will keep the trophy in their room for a week. Let's work hard in Room 1 to win the trophy.

Hi Parents. On Friday, students were given a username and password for Math First. Math First is an interactive math program. From what I have heard, it is more fun than ALEKS. Mrs. Parsons is keeping track and acknowledging students for their work on Math First. We are in competition as a homeroom to see who is completing the most work and putting in the most time on Mat First. So, help your child at home to help our classroom do well. Scholastic book orders went home on Friday as well. They are due back by October1st, if you want to order. I still have not received September's order. It should be here any day. If you have not signed and sent back progress reports, please do so. I am trying to set up a group email for parents. I'm not sure I have done it correctly. I heard back from some of you on Friday, wondering what it was about. If you get an email from me without a message, it's probably because I am still trying to set it up correctly. We have a short quiz over Chapter 2 Religion tomorrow. Students were told to bring their Religion books home and to reread Chapter 2. Have a great week.

Welcome to the new school year. This is my first chance I have had to blog. These are busy times. I am enjoying getting to know your children. I think they are all meeting new friends and adapting to the changes 4th grade brings. We are starting the year off in Religion with The Creation. I am teaching the students how to use the Bibles to do searches. They have been shown how the Bible is divided into the Old and New Testaments. They have also been shown all the books of each part. They now understand how the numbers stand for Chapters and Verses. We opened our Religion books and started reading Chapter 1. There will be a short quiz over Chapter 1 when we finish our study of it.
